Dos Leches presents

THE SPOTLIGHTSERIES.

Stunning, cinematic videos — shot in Calgary and the wild, beautiful backyard that surrounds it. Every episode shines a light on four things:

01 An iconic location02 A local musician03 A local visual artist04 A local cause

The Idea

OVERVIEW.

The Dos Leches Spotlight Series is a YouTube / Instagram video series of stunning, cinematic video spotlighting four things in every episode:

Iconic locations — Moraine Lake
1

Iconic Locations

A special location in Calgary or surrounding — somewhere people will want to visit.

Local musicians — hands in the air
2

Upcoming Local Musicians

Primarily DJs and electronic producers, branching out to all genres. Fiercely local.

Visual artists — Alex on the scaffold
3

Calgary's Best Visual Artists

Ride with Alex Kwong as far as we can all go.

The cause — the giveaway moment
4

The Cause

Driving interest to the future Dos Leches Gives efforts — and eventually a local cause in each video.

Shot with a very minimal crew and few if any attendees. The look and feel is intimate and cinematic. The goal: videos that will be seen and appreciated all across the world.

The Vision

WHY.

Dos Leches has the potential to become synonymous with Calgary culture. It has always been much more than DJs in a park. This is the chance to spread that reach — for Alex to get his work out to the world and become an international star, and for all of us to push the collective culture further.

The world knows Calgary for country. This series is everything else — the city outgrowing its one-genre reputation, episode by episode.

1

Build the brands at home

Grow Dos Leches and Alex Kwong across Calgary and Alberta — until the series is part of how the city sees itself.

2

Give the artists a platform

Every episode is a stage. Local musicians and visual artists reach new audiences, grow their following, and walk away with a piece of work that travels further than any single set.

3

Show Calgary to Calgarians

The music, the architecture, the river valley, the history — most of it walked past every day without a second look. Every episode is a reason to look again.

4

Get the decision makers on board

These videos are a love letter to the city and the province. Once the people who run them take notice, doors open — bigger events, real projects, serious sponsorship.

5

Go beyond Alberta

The series is built to travel. Music and visual art need no translation — this is the launching point for something much bigger.

The Backdrops

LOCATIONS.

Our favourite 36. Each one iconic — somewhere tourists and locals alike will want to visit — and beautiful enough to carry a cinematic video.

Variety first. A range of settings so every video looks different and gives a totally different feel.
Calgary + southern Alberta. Capitalize on Calgary first, then the surrounding beauty of the province.
The tourism play. Built to get Tourism Calgary and Travel Alberta on our side.
Eyes open. Some sites need permits, some don't allow drones — it factors into the order we shoot.
Drone ✓ legal, no paperwork Drone ~ one permission Ground no drone — ground cinematic

ART / ARTISTS.

ALEX KWONG.

Alex does as many videos as he'd like and has time for — and curates the entire art side of the project with full control. We work out from his availability and add artists as necessary.

Glenmore Reservoir — Alex working the full 8-foot panel while the set rolls, sailboats behind.

The art is the artist's

Alex (and other artists) paint whatever they like and own the paintings. Full control over what's done with the work beyond the videos.

Dos Leches Gives

If the artists wish, a portion of sale proceeds can be donated to the Dos Leches Gives fund — MD-Motivator-style giveaways in Calgary.

Hold, then reveal

Recommend holding the artwork until all videos are released — as the project gains traction, the value could increase substantially.

The Gargoyle Gallery

Artwork displayed on the Gargoyle House roof facing 14th Street — serious visibility.

The canvas

8'×6' or 8'×8' plywood. Possible hinges in the middle so panels fold to 2'×6' / 2'×8' for any long carries.

The Sound

MUSICIANS.

Everything but country. Calgary's country story is already told — nobody tells it better than the Stampede. This series spotlights everything else the city has become: electronic, pop, hip-hop, indie, soul.
Beyond electronic. This is where Dos Leches starts branching into other genres. Electronic stays the focus — but Calgary culture is bigger than one sound.
Fiercely local. All artists based in Alberta, primarily Calgary. No exceptions.
The connective tissue. Bamboozu and Slofish appear in most videos — cameos, or b2b with the featured artist for sections of each set.

VIDEOS.

Every episode is shot in cinematic 4K — the kind of footage that stops a scroll and makes someone say I want to go there.

A love letter to the city and the province, pointed outward at the world.

🤝 A true collaboration

Between the artists, the musicians and the venues — and in time, we hope, with the City and the Province themselves.

  • ⅓ musician · ⅓ visual · ⅓ location — the discovery engine
SOCIALS · 1 MIN

Art Only Cut

WHERE THE VIDEOS WILL LIVE.

Every episode posted as a collaboration across all three accounts on each platform — everyone's audience grows together.

The Point

CAUSE.

Every episode drives interest to the future Dos Leches Gives efforts — with artists optionally directing a portion of art-sale proceeds into the fund for MD-Motivator-style giveaways, given directly to people in Calgary, on camera.

The series grows → the giveaways grow → the series grows.

Eventually, each video can spotlight its own local cause. First, we build the engine.
